Dumbur, Tripura, India

Dumbur Lake sits deep in the hills of Gandacherra, Tripura — the largest lake in the state, dotted with small islands and ringed by forest. A stay here is less about a checklist of sights and more about slowing down: still water at sunrise, a balcony overlooking the lake, and a part of Northeast India that rarely makes it onto a typical travel itinerary.
